College Research

Your Goals for today - August 31st, 2010

1. Please check your Zangel account for your grades. I will come around student by student to sign them if needed during class.

2. Explore your college website. Please use the entire periods to become familiar with your college website. Try to find answers to your questions while you explore. You must answer at least two questions before the bell rings at the end of class today.

3. Please explore the links before you ask any questions. The most common answer Mr. Espinoza (Mr. E) and I will have is "keep clicking", "keep looking", and even.... "did you click on that" as we point to your screen.

10 minutes into class I will have all of you stop for a moment and review the worksheet for common questions.

Friday

You will finish the worksheet during class. If you do not complete the worksheet in class it will become homework. If you do not have internet at home, please use the computer lab before school or after school tutoring in room 12 on Thursdays.

College of Note

I found this college online. A college with a twist.

College of the Ozarks

Point Lookout, MO 65726

According to US News,

U of O Mission: College of the Ozarks is unique, because it charges no tuition. All full-time students work 15 hours a week to offset the costs of education. Students can also elect either to pay for room and board or to work in a summer program, which covers those costs. Debt is openly discouraged. C of O is a liberal arts college, founded a century ago by a Presbyterian minister. The College seeks students who are of good character, bright, willing to work and would have a difficult time paying to attend another college. The five aims of the College are to encourage academic, spiritual, patriotic, cultural and vocational growth in its students. (source: USNews.com)

According to Princeton Review

  • Average High School GPA: 3.5

  • Total Undergraduate Enrollment: 1,351

  • Female: 55.81%

  • Out of State: 33%

  • International: 1.33%

  • Freshman Enrollment: 282

Students don’t pay tuition at C of O! How does that work? Click Here.
